ABOUT IDLER

Built by the trade,
for the trade.

Idler was founded by Austin, a heavy diesel mechanic based in Queensland who has spent years working on machinery in the mining industry.

Over time, he noticed how many valuable machines spend most of the year sitting idle in yards — only brought out when the next project or busy season rolls around. That sparked the idea for Idler: a peer-to-peer equipment marketplace designed to put idle machinery back to work.

Instead of leaving equipment unused, owners can list it on Idler and earn money by hiring it out to people who need it. At the same time, tradies, contractors and weekend renovators can access the equipment they need without purchasing it for a short-term job or paying the traditional corporate hire-yard markup.

Idler gives owners a way to earn more from the equipment they already have, while helping renters complete their work for less.

Less sitting. More earning. That's Idler.

GROUNDSPEC — THE TRUST LAYER

Mechanic-inspected. Confidence built in.

GroundSpec works hand in hand with Idler to give equipment owners and renters greater confidence before a machine changes hands.

Rather than relying solely on photos and a listing description, customers can request an independent GroundSpec inspection or assessment. Our experienced mechanical team can attend the machine, assess the areas requested by the customer and provide clear, practical information about its condition.

Depending on the service selected, this may include checks of the engine, hydraulics, operating hours, visible wear, general operation and other key components. A detailed report can then be provided to help the customer make a more informed decision.

GroundSpec is an optional, opt-in service. Owners can use it to strengthen their listing and provide an added trust signal, while renters can request an inspection for additional peace of mind before committing to a hire.

Equipment that successfully completes an approved GroundSpec inspection may display a GS badge on its Idler listing, helping trusted machines stand out.

Independent insight. Greater confidence. Better equipment decisions.
